Before School
Upon arrival, the children who wish to eat breakfast here at the center may do so. Please make sure he/she arrives early enough so as not to be rushed. The buses begin arriving at 8:00. Since there is really not enough time to do organized activities, we allow free play for those who want to be active. However, we also allow children to relax and rest up for the day ahead.
After School
We have found that after the children get off the bus, they enjoy some “down” time. They are given an afternoon snack and are allowed to have free time. After the children have had time to relax we begin some structured activities. The children can choose a craft, science project, or a game. We go outside to play on the playground almost every afternoon.
Summer Time
Each summer our school-age children participate in our Summer Bash program. This program involves planned activities as well as many field trips. Some of our field trips last summer included: swimming, Binder Zoo, Holland Aquatic Center, bowling, Lost City for laser tag, Grand Lady Riverboat, Ford Museum, Coopersville/Marne Railroad, Master Arts Theatre, out to lunch at Great Lakes Chinese restaurant, and so much more!

Field Trips
You will be notified in advance about any field trips taken. A permission slip will need to be signed. Also, a signed permission slip needs to be kept on file for trips made to Sunrise Park and Freedom Christian Schools. These two places are in walking distance.
Snack Shoppe
The Snack Shoppe provides a welcome ending to a busy school day. It offers a chance to socialize and allows teachers to interact and get to know our students better. Parents may send money for snacks at the Snack Shoppe and the teachers will keep track of purchases when they occur.
Things to Bring
Make sure your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoor playtime. Your child may bring hand held games but they will be responsible for them. Please make sure all their personal belongings have their names on them.
Snow Days, No School, or Half Days
We plan extra activities for the children due to school closings. Please inform the office or your child’s teacher if your child will not be attending on these special days. |

Change of Plans
If your child will not be getting off of the bus or will not need to be picked up by an FELC teacher, please let the office know. We want to make sure your school-aged child is always safe. If you forget to let us now, you will likely receive a phone call from us concerning their whereabouts.
