About Our Investigators Class
Circle Time
During circle time we introduce the lesson for the day which corresponds with the theme for the month. We also review our colors, numbers, letters, opposites and Spanish.
Zoo-phonics
This class continues to lay the foundation for our zoo-phonics program which is used in all our classrooms. Using animals and songs to teach letters and sounds makes learning the alphabet more interesting and fun.
Math
We learn numbers 1-10. We use hands on activities
to teach counting which also helps with small motor skills.
Reading Center
This is an area that provides another opportunity for
the children to explore a variety of books in addition
to the ones we will be reading in class.
Spanish
Please read our brochure regarding our “Spanish Immersion Program”.
Science
Our desire is to begin building an interest in science.
Some of the things we do are nature walks, planting
seeds, collecting and pressing leaves and experimenting with tastes and textures.
Arts & Crafts
Crafts are great for teaching children how to listen and follow directions to obtain a certain result. We will be using a wide variety of materials for arts and crafts activities. A true art experience is a child’s own masterpiece when he or she is allowed to be creative. |

Sensory Table
The sensory table is used to stimulate and develop thinking. Creative play, social interaction, fine motor development and language.
Outside Play
Outside play and fresh air are important for each child’s growth and development. We go outside every day, weather permitting.
Nap Time
Sleep is an important part of a child’s day. Each child will be assigned a mat and a sheet that we provide. A blanket and even a special stuffed toy may be brought from home for naps. Instrumental music is played during this time.
Dramatic Play
It is scientifically proven that the more imaginative a child is, the better their problem solving skills will be. The dramatic play area is set up so the children can play dress up and create their own fantasies.
Toys
The toys in the room are age appropriate and are chosen carefully to be educational as well as fun. Toys are thoroughly washed everyday after use.
Food
We serve breakfast, a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack. We are a part of the Michigan Food Program which monitors us to ensure we provide balanced, nutritious meals. We send menus home one week in advance so you know what is being served each day. We are a peanut free zone. |
