Little Scholars

Activities in which toddlers participate flow naturally out of the experiences of everyday living and are designed to create a sense of security and trust. FELC strives to make their environment as “home-like” as possible.

The room is set up to create an atmosphere of comfort and learning. It is set up in your child's best interest. There are many different work and play areas. This will give children a chance to explore all day long.

Reading area: This are has a rug and pillows. It allows the children to be read to or to look at picture books themselves.

Dramatic Play Area: This area is designed so the children can dress up in play clothes. It encourages the child to be creative. It is scientifically proven that if a child using his or her imagination, he or she will grow up with better problem solving skills.

Toys: The toys in the room are age appropriate and are chosen carefully. Blocks, musical toys, science animals, and many types of picture books are used to promote learning.

Art: Arts and crafts are done daily. Pictures that the children have created are then showcased throughout the room or sent home in your mailbox. This helps build a child’s self esteem.

Circle Time: We have circle time 2 times a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. We also have an additional reading time just before lunch. During circle time we introduce what we will be learning that day, this will correspond with that week’s particular theme. We will also review our colors, numbers, letters, verses, sign language, Spanish, and opposites. we also teach through modeling and reinforcement.

Nap Time: Sleep is an important part of a child’s day. Each child will have a mat and a sheet that we provide. Instrumental music will be played during this time. If you have special request in regards to their sleeping patterns, please let us know.
